Lumoset is a new nonprofit. Here is exactly what is live today, the real need we exist to meet, and how we will track whether it is actually helping — honestly, as the numbers become real.
No estimates, no rounding up. These are the free resources published on lumoset.org today, verified against our own resource tracker.
The Federal Trade Commission's most recent report to Congress found that fraud losses reported by adults 60 and older rose roughly fourfold in four years — from about $600 million in 2020 to $2.4 billion in 2024 in reported losses alone. Because most fraud is never reported, the FTC estimates the real toll on older adults in 2024 may be as much as $81.5 billion. Investment scams and impersonation scams, often run through social media and phone calls, are driving the sharpest increases.

Lumoset's free course library went live in 2026. We are not going to invent impact numbers before we have them. We are already tracking real learner outcomes — course completions, confidence gained after finishing a course, and certificates earned — through our own Learner Impact Tracker. As soon as we have real, documented numbers to share, they will replace this paragraph. Until then, this page will always lead with what is actually true: the free education that exists today, and the real need it exists to meet.
A gift keeps courses free for the people who need them most. Volunteering your time helps us build more of them, faster. Either one helps us reach more people and start reporting the real outcomes we are already measuring.
Every course, guide, and cheat sheet on this page is free, with no account needed to learn, and no catch.
Join our free newsletter for plain-language safety tips, alerts about the newest scams, and a note whenever we add a lesson. Usually once or twice a month, and never any spam.
Free online-safety education for everyone.
