A little preparation makes a telehealth visit calm and smooth. Do these simple things beforehand.

Before the day:

Ask the office how the visit will happen: through the portal app, a link they send, or a phone call. Follow their instructions for their system.

If they use an app, install it ahead of time so you are not rushing at the appointment.

Make sure your phone or tablet is charged and connected to Wi-Fi for the best picture.

Set yourself up (about 10 minutes early):

Pick a quiet, private, well-lit spot where you can talk freely.

Prop the phone up (against books or in a holder) so your face is centered and your hands are free.

Have handy: your list of medications, a list of questions or symptoms, a pen and paper, and any devices like a blood-pressure cuff if you use one.

A note on cost and coverage. Whether a telehealth visit is covered depends on your plan and can change. Lumoset cannot tell you what your visit will cost. Check with your doctor’s office and your insurance or Medicare beforehand if you want to know.

A quick example. The day before your visit, you install the app the clinic named and do a quick test that it opens. On the day, ten minutes early, you sit by a window with your pill bottles and a written list of two questions. When the doctor appears, you are ready and relaxed.

What to do:

Ask the office exactly how the visit will happen, and set it up in advance.

Prepare a quiet, lit spot and your medication and question lists.

For cost or coverage questions, ask your provider and your plan, not us.
