Your phone can adjust to you. A few settings make everything easier to see, hear, and tap, and they are all free and reversible.

Where to look: open Settings (the gear icon). This is the control room for your whole phone.

Make it easier to see:

  • Bigger text: on iPhone, Settings then Display and Brightness then Text Size. On Android, Settings then Display then Font size. Slide it larger until it is comfortable.
  • Brightness: in the same Display menu, brighten the screen for daytime or dim it for evening.
  • Zoom or magnify: both phones can magnify the screen in the Accessibility settings if you ever need a closer look.

Make it easier to hear and hold:

  • Volume: the side buttons, or in Settings then Sounds.
  • Vibrate: turn on vibration so you feel a call even if you miss the sound.

Make it easier without typing:

  • Talk to it: say “Hey Siri” (iPhone) or “Hey Google” (Android), then ask it to call someone, set a timer, or send a text. Your voice is a real shortcut.

A calming truth: every setting can be changed back. If you slide the text too big, you slide it back. Nothing here is permanent.

A quick example. The text on your phone is hard to read. You open Settings, find Text Size, and slide it larger. Suddenly your messages and menus are easy on your eyes. You did not need new glasses; you needed one setting.

What to do:

  • Open Settings and make the text size comfortable for you.
  • Adjust brightness and volume to suit you.
  • Try asking Siri or Google to set a timer, just to feel it work.
