Most people think of accounts one by one. Attackers do not. They think in chains.

If a scammer gets into:

  • your email, they may reset other accounts
  • your phone number, they may intercept codes
  • one reused password, they may try it elsewhere

That is why Level 3 moves from “protect this login” to “protect the system around the login.”

A quick example: someone takes over your main email and quietly changes the recovery address for a shopping account, a social platform, and a bank alert account. The first breach may be only the beginning.

What to do:

  • Identify your most important chain accounts: email, phone, banking, and major shopping or social accounts tied to recovery.
  • Protect the chain, not just the single door.
  • Assume one weak point can expose more than itself.
