At this level, the main skill is not memorizing every bank rule. It is knowing the difference between:
- a charge you do not recognize
- a merchant problem
- fraud
- a scam where you were tricked into moving money yourself
These are not handled the same way.
A quick example: if your card was used without permission, that is different from a scammer talking you into wiring money yourself. The second case is often harder to reverse, which is why FTC keeps warning people never to move money to “protect it.”
What to do:
- Contact the bank or card issuer quickly when a charge looks wrong.
- Use the official app, statement, or card number to reach them.
- Describe clearly whether the problem was unauthorized use, a merchant issue, or a scam.
