AI gives better answers when you ask better questions. This is a skill, and it is easy to learn.

The simple recipe: say who it’s for, what you want, and any details. The more you tell it, the better the answer.

Weak question, then strong question:

  • Weak: “Write a note.” Strong: “Write a short, warm thank-you note to my neighbor who watered my plants while I was away.”
  • Weak: “Explain this.” Strong: “Explain this phone bill to me in simple terms, like I have never seen one before.”
  • Weak: “Dinner ideas.” Strong: “Give me three cheap, healthy dinners for two people, no spicy food.”

You can keep the conversation going. If the answer is not quite right, just say so in plain words:

  • “Make it shorter.”
  • “Use simpler words.”
  • “That is too formal, make it friendlier.”

It remembers what you just said, so you can shape the answer step by step, like talking to a helper.

A quick example. You type: “Help me write a message to my doctor’s office to reschedule my Tuesday appointment to any morning next week.” It writes a polite message. You add: “Make it a little shorter.” It trims it. You copy it into your email. Done.

What to do:

  1. Tell the AI who the answer is for and what you want.
  2. Add details, plain-spoken, as if explaining to a helper.
  3. If it is not right, ask it to change it. You cannot break anything by asking.
