AI is helpful, but like anything online, it needs two simple safety habits. Learn these two rules and you can use AI with confidence.

Rule 1: Never type in private information. The company that runs the tool can see what you type, and it may be used to improve the service. So keep these out of the chat box:

  • Full account, card, or Social Security numbers.
  • Passwords or one-time codes.
  • Your home address, or private details about your health or money that identify you.

If you want help with a bill, you can remove or “black out” the account number first, and just ask about the confusing part.

Rule 2: Double-check anything that matters. Remember from Lesson 1: AI can sound sure and still be wrong. So before you act on an answer about your health, your money, the law, or safety, confirm it with a trusted source or a real professional.

A quick example. You ask AI to explain a symptom. It gives a calm, general explanation, which helps you feel less worried. Good. But you do not diagnose yourself from it. You use it to understand, then you call your doctor for anything real. That is exactly the right way to use it.

A calm way to remember it: Share nothing private. Trust nothing important without checking.

What to do:

  1. Keep account numbers, passwords, and codes out of the chat.
  2. Treat AI answers as a helpful starting point, not the final word.
  3. For health, money, or legal questions, confirm with a real professional.
